Goofy Girl

Kate is just so full of personality these days. She keeps us laughing. I think God makes 2 year olds so funny so that you won't kill them when you are in the middle of a 2 year old tantrum! Here are some funny things she has said and done lately.
This morning she woke up and as I got her out of her crib she said "Hi Emily." I said, "I am mommy not Emily." She said, "No you are Emily." Too funny. She called me Emily all morning! She is rather bossy and even said "Sit down Emily."
Yesterday she was playing with the Little People manger and she was holding baby Jesus and starting singing "Baby, baby, Ohhh, baby." The girl loves Justin Beiber! We went to the movies on Saturday and there was a Justin Beiber music video before the movie and she just loved it. She squealed and danced along. I hope baby Jesus also has Beiber fever!
Everytime we tell her no or to stop doing something she looks at us and says "oh man." It just makes me laugh!
Love me some Kate!!

Getting in the Christmas Mood

We have continued to have the most relaxing few days post-Thanksgiving. It has been so wonderful!! We did do some Black Friday shopping. Matt took the late shift. He headed out to Walmart at 9:30 Thursday night to get in line for a new laptop. Our computer has been on its last leg for about 6 months now. We are afraid to turn it off because we aren't sure it will turn back on. So we decided it was time for a new computer. He was able to get a great deal on a laptop that we are really enjoying. I then took the early shift. My mom and I headed out around 6 am Friday morning. We got some great deals on boots and purses at Belk. We also picked up a few other deals along the way (mostly for ourselves). It was a very successful shopping day!
Friday afternoon we pulled out all the Christmas decorations and got to decorating. We got it pretty much all done. The kids had so much fun with the train under the tree. They loved decorating the tree and were actually a big help!
Saturday we headed out for some Christmas fun. We ate a yummy lunch at Chilis.
Then went to see the movie Arthur Christmas. It was super cute and funny. Made us all very excited for Christmas! It really is the most wonderful time of the year and we are excited to celebrate Jesus' birthday!
So we admit going to the movie was an excuse to miss out on part of the big Auburn Alabama game. We did watch most of it. It went about like we thought. We did score so that was good. It has been an overall better season than we thought so that is good.
We have all been a little stuffy and sneezey the last few days so we stayed home from church this morning so we can all be good and well before we head back to school and work tomorrow.

Thanksgiving 2011

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was pretty low key but fun. It started off with a leisurely look through the sale ads in the paper. Always a fun way to start Thanksgiving. We were all just excited to have Matt off. He has had to work the majority of Thanksgivings since we have been married so for him to be home was great.
The kids enjoyed watching some of the parade. We looked for Aunt Kelly and Uncle Andrew but didn't see them.
We then went over to Matt's parents house to celebrate with his family. His entire extended family is there so there are alot of people. There was so much good food!!!
Matt's mom made a fun thankful tree and everyone wrote down what they were thankful for. It was so cute!
Ben and Kate enjoyed lots of yummy food and playing with the other kids.
We had a great time visiting and playing games. We then went over to my parent's house. Since we had already enjoyed Thanksgiving with them, we just hung out and ate tacos and soup. It was nice to just visit. The kids enjoyed playing with the Christmas decorations.
It was a great day. Lots of fun and time to reflect on what we are thankful for! I never take many pictures on holidays. It is just more fun to enjoy than take pictures.)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have been so blessed!! There is so much to be thankful for. God has given us more than we could ever imagine or deserve. We talked about thankfulness in our family worship time this week.

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Tessalonians 5:18

My prayer is that I keep a thankful heart and teach it to my children. We all said what we were thankful for:

Matt: Family and the Bible

Emily: The gospel and healthy kids

Ben: His video games (yes such a good thing I know) and his family

Kate: God

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Fish Sitting & A Funny

We are enjoying a glorious day before Thanksgiving. The kind where you stay in PJs until noon and just watch movies and play games. The kids and I are really enjoying it. We are excited to have Daddy off starting tomorrow for 4 whole days!!! It has been a long time since he has been off so it sure will be nice! Our Thanksgiving plans are really low key so hopefully we will have a nice relaxing weekend.

A couple of things...

We are fish sitting for our neighbors fish Oscar. The kids are loving it!! They fight over who gets to feed him and they love just watching him swim.

And a Ben funny I have been meaning to write down...

A house on our street got rolled over the weekend. We were driving by and Ben said "They must be Auburn fans." You know that you are true Auburn fans when your kids don't think rolling is a bad thing but a show of fan loyalty!!

Kate's 2 Year Check Up

Sweet Kate had to go for her 2 year check up today. We survived with very little drama (she is not a high drama kind of girl so I wasn't expecting any). She weighed in at 28 pounds (67%ile) and 35 inches (80%ile). Her BMI is 16.1 (40%ile). So her growth is perfect (always important to this RD mama)!! I was able to answer yes to all of her milestone checks (although she isn't drinking enough milk and I give her skim milk but I know about that). And the doctor said she was "perfect." She did great with her toe prick and shot. Not a tear was shed. This girl is tough! Here she is showing off her band-aid.

I am so thankful for healthy children! I know what a blessing it is. I am around sick children at work all the time and I so appreciate God's gift of healthy for our children. Kate is 2 and has never been on antibiotics (except in the NICU). She has only had 2 sick visits and they were for not really sicknesses but rashes and allergies. We are so blessed!!

Pre Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a lovely weekend. It was so very relaxing. Just what we needed after a busy few weeks! It was also full of some fun Thanksgiving activities which are always fun. Friday at school the kids had their Thanksgiving feast which was lots of fun. The whole school dressed up as either Pilgrims or Indians. Both kids came home with Indian head wear. In honor of that we watched Pocahontas as our Friday movie night movie! Saturday there was no where to be and nothing to do!! We all just hung around in our PJs. The kids enjoyed coloring and playing with toys!
Matt and I did some cooking. We made some yummy food for the evening including green bean bundles and 7 layer salad!

It was such a relaxing day. Then we headed over to my parent's house to celebrate Thanksgiving a little early. Kelly and Andrew are headed to NYC so we enjoyed an early meal together. We had some super yummy food.

Kate sure did enjoy it!

It was a great evening of being with family and remembering what we are all thankful for!

Sunday was a low key day of church and lunch with friends. It was a great weekend to get us started on a week of thankfulness!

It's My Party!

To say Kate had a blast at her party would be an understatement! She had an amazing time. I really do think she had the best time ever. All of our family was at the party and she invited 4 of her friends - Addy, Caroline, Kaylee and Isaac. They all had a wonderful time together. Here are just a few of the pictures from the party...

We had the study filled with balloons and the kids had the best time just running and playing in them. Kate ran around for the entire 2 hours. She looked so sweaty and messed up most of the time. She was just having so much fun!!

Kate and Uncle Andrew!

We played pin the bow on Minnie which all the kiddos seemed to really enjoy. Kate had to take a break and get some punch to cool down!

And get some snuggles from Mema!

Then it was time for cake!!! This was my favorite part of the night. The little look on Kate's face as everyone sang to her was priceless. She looked so sweet and was taking it all in. She loved it! She did a great job of blowing out her candles.

Here she is telling everyone she is 2 but she only holds up 1 finger.

Cutting the cake!
Kate sure did enjoy the goodies!

And I think everyone else enjoyed them as well.

We caught some little girls sneaking some more goodies!

The demolished cake.

Kate could not wait to tear into her big pile of presents!

She lost interest pretty quickly in the present opening but she hung in there best she could.
Everytime I would tell her who a present was from she was say Ohh. Like Oh how nice of them.

Kaylee got her some awesome sparkly shoes!
Kate did an awesome job of giving hugs to everyone as she opened their gift.

Checking out her new Belle doll.

And Tinkerbell DVD!
The mess left behind!

All the kids just had so much fun playing with Kate's new toys and with each other. They all got along great. No 2 year old fights!
Matt made balloon animals for the kids before they left.

We tried really hard to get a picture of all the kids. This really was the best we could do. Poor Kate you can't even see her.
And pictures with all the family!

It was an awesome party!! Can't believe we have a 2 year old little girl.
