Movie Night

Saturday night was the first ever Eckley Family Movie Night! We all got on our PJs with pillows and blankets on the couch to watch a movie. Ben loves to watch TV and movies so he had a blast. We popped a big bowl of popcorn (Ben can eat a lot of popcorn) and watched Charlotte's Web. It was so much fun! We will have to do it more often!

The boy needs a train table...

Ben is the cutest little guy. Yesterday he saw the train ornament that his Granna had bought him for Christmas and threw a fit to get it out of the box. So we let him have it and play with it. He LOVED it!!! He played and played with the little train (it is small and not a normal train - it doesn't even have wheels). He even invented himself some tracks by running the train through the grooves in the kitchen cabinet. The whole time he is saying choo choo. Too funny! He is going to freak out on Christmas morning when he gets to play with his very own train table. Also yesterday he was wearing a shirt that had trains on it and he told everyone we saw about his "choo choo tain shir." He loves trains! Here he is with his imaginary train tracks.

I am very proud of the little guy. Last night we went to Walmart and bought a bunch of toys for a child for Operation Christmas Child. We explained to him that the toys weren't for him but he could pick them out for another little boy. He picked out things he liked and then helped us pack up the box. He didn't complain or whine. So sweet!!

Auburn

We did something totally uncharacteristic and made a quick impromptu trip down to Auburn for the Auburn/Georgia game. We hadn't been down to a game in 2 seasons so we were itching to go. Also our family in Auburn was dying to see Ben so it was a win win all around. We had a great time. It was fun to get to see both of my grandmothers. Ben had a great time playing with them. He loved staying with GG and Aunt Lisa while we went to the game. Although Auburn didn't win, it was sort of a moral victory and a great game. We got to meet up with Brad and LeeAnn before the game and hang out so that was fun! Overall it was a great time!

Family picture in Auburn gear!
LeeAnn and I before the game - it was really really windy! Not too cold but just windy

Before the game! It was fun to go by ourselves to the game. We were walking up to the stands talking about how it felt like old times before we had Ben! But then we were talking about how things have changed and how old we felt. And then we remembered that we had driven our mini van to the game and felt really old!

Ben got to have so much fun while we were at the game. My Aunt Lisa and Uncle Lee practically have a zoo so he got to see all of the animals which he loved. Here he is with one of Uncle Lee's turtles.

They went to the library which he loves!

He loved reading with GG! It think it is awesome that Ben is getting to know and spend time with his great grandmothers!

And here is just a cool pictures from the game!

Oh the joys of a crazy toddler

So there still isn't much going on in the Eckley household. Sorry I wish I had something exciting to write about. I do have a couple of funny stories from the week. It is amazing to me how quickly Ben can learn things. His new thing this week is opening doors. It started with his bedroom and playroom doors that he would open and close. Then it moved on to the bathroom doors (and he learned how to flush the toilet - I caught him flushing it over and over. I am waiting until he figures out how to put things down the toilet). Now he has quickly moved onto opening the door to the outside. Yes, he escaped a couple of days ago. I heard our alarm ding that a door opened. I went to the door to the garage and it was wide open and Ben was running down the driveway. AHHHHH!!! He keeps us so busy! Now I have to make sure to lock the doors but I am sure it is only a matter of time before he figures out how to unlock them. He has also started dumping all the toys out of his baskets in the living room and then sitting in the baskets. Here are some pictures!

Ben's favorite game to play is "pillows" where we go and jump on our bed and he buries himself in the pillows. He could play it for hours!

Nothing New

I try really hard to post a couple of times a week but this week I am struggling. I have nothing exciting to write about. Nothing great and exciting is going on in the Eckley household. Life at Mossy Rock is just moving along with nothing major going on. Sorry folks! I just thought I would let all of you know I am still here and I am working on coming up with something exciting to write about...

A little bit of everything... (scrapbooking, Tiger Woods & Christmas)

Today I just have a bunch of random things to put on the blog so hold on and try to keep up...

I have found a new hobby - digital scrapbooking. Several of my friends have been trying to talk me into starting for some time now but I have been rebelling. Well, I started this week and now I am hooked. It is so easy and fun. I have made 3 pages now and I am really enjoying it. I am not good at it yet but it is coming. Special thanks to Jenny and Jess for talking me into it! Here are the pages I have made so far.

Next topic - Tiger Woods. Matt's dad won a contest and got to play golf with Tiger Woods a couple of weeks ago. You can read all about it at: http://www.al.com/huntsvilletimes/stories/index.ssf?/base/sports/1225966547315860.xml&coll=1

You can also check him out on the golf channel the week of Thanksgiving during the Tee it Up with Tiger special. He is being interviewed and it should be neat. Here is a picture of Opa and Tiger.

And finally - Christmas!! Hard to believe it is going to be here so soon!! Ben had his Christmas pictures made a couple of weeks ago and if you want to go and look at them you can by going to www.simplicitybychristy.com. Click on "client proofing" and enter password: ben.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Election Day 2008

The day has finally arrived!!! Is it just me or has this campaign been going on forever!! I had been talking to Ben about voting for a week or so and telling him all about it. This morning we were all excited to go vote! We had heard that our precinct was the busiest in town and that made me a little worried. And boy was it busy! We got there around 8:30 this morning to see the line below. We stood in line for about 30 minutes and an official came out and said it would be another 1 1/2 - 2 hours. I had to work at 10 so we just left. We came back at around 11:45 and waited until 1:30 or so. Almost 2 hours in line to vote (poor Ashley and Jon had to wait even longer)! It wasn't that bad. The weather was perfect and Ben got to eat lunch in line and Mrs. Lynn our neighbor gave him a sucker so he was a happy guy. They did it alphabetically so for some reason the A-F line was painfully slow. But you know, I just feel lucky to even be able to vote! It was fun to get to explain it all to Ben. Even if he doesn't understand I can tell him about his first time to go "vote" for President.

Now we are just praying hard for the outcome. But you know what... we know who is in control and that is all that matters.

Here is the line...it just keeps going and going

Ben waiting happily in line to vote!
