Breakfast

This is one of those posts where I am looking for some advice! I know I am a pediatric dietitian and am supposed to be great at feeding kids but I just struggle with what to feed Ben for breakfast. He eats just about any breakfast food so that is not a problem. The problem is finding quick and easy things. Most mornings it is either a cereal bar or a frozen waffle and some fruit. In the picture above he is eating applesauce and goldfish because that he what he wanted. I am wanting to add a little variety to what he eats in the morning and am needing some suggestions. Don't suggest eggs and bacon because I am not going to cook that in the morning! With school starting back in a couple of weeks our morning time is going to short so it must be quick. Any suggestions would be great and I know Ben would appreciate it greatly!

Hey Emily! I like to make a big batch of muffins (blueberry and bran muffins are my favs) and freeze them in ziploc bags. In the morning I just pop one into the microwave for about 30 secs and it tastes great! That's what Emma has been eating the last few days for breakfast along with some fruit. Also- I like to make sausage balls and freeze those after I bake them. Just warm them up in microwave also.

I'm so glad you posted this. I hope you get some good answers like the one above! Great idea with the muffins!! Hunter doesn't do variety well for breakfast. He expects his sausage patty every morning. I buy the fully cooked turkey sausage patties that microwave 30 seconds. I usually give him a banana or yogurt with it.

Wow, everyone around here seems to eat much more fancy breakfasts than we do! We are big cereal people at our house. Chris eats the same cereal every morning, and I vary between a few types, or if I'm feeling adventurous I sometimes have toast. Gabe has milk in a cup plus a bowl of dry cereal every morning, but he insists on having a little of each type of cereal in the pantry, so I make up a mix for him and keep it in a container in the kitchen so I can pour out a little each day. We also give him one of those Flintstones gummy vitamins :). ~xo Jess

emily, one of the boys favorite things is french toast. so, charles being the chef and all, will make up 1-2 loaves of bread in to french toast at one time and freeze it! just let it cool and pop it in a baggie, then when you are ready for it, just pop it in the toaster like you would a frozen waffle! its great b/c you have control over the ingredients! does ben like oatmeal? thats also another favorite of theirs.

Alex is a big cereal eater like Eric, but we try to stick with the healthy ones...start as you intend to continue...our kids love Honey Bunches of Oats, Cheerios, Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, etc.
The muffin idea is great advice and really works...we do that, too! And there are SO MANY different flavor varieties.
Tried and true here also are generic frozen french toast sticks or bites, pancakes, or waffles with sugar free syrup.
Reagan LOVES instant oatmeal and there are MANY yummy flavors...I buy the less sugar kind and it still tastes great! And instant grits, microwaveable packets...also several different flavors and they are all good.
You can pop some cheese toast or cinnamon toast in the toaster oven or oven pretty quickly for variety from plain toast!
Mary B's tea biscuits cook in 15 minutes while you get a shower and are little and GOOD...come frozen and you cook as many or as few as you need! Our kids like honey or sugar free syrup to dip them in or you can cut up ham or sausage and put inside for variety, or just smear on some good jelly or preserves!
We LOVE breakfast, so the eggs and bacon come around often here, but usually for supper rather than early morning! Or on the weekend, you can make a breakfast casserole that keeps on giving all week long.
Yogurt and fruit goes great with any of the above. And you can put them in the blender and make a smoothie of sorts for variety without much more time! You are doing great...keep up the good work!

What about cheese toast with some ham and/or eggs?
