We got back yesterday from a few days away with my family. We ventured up to the mountains of North Carolina. My parent's sweet neighbor was kind enough to arrange for us to stay in her family's house. It was an amazing house set up in the mountains. It was right on a winding creek. In fact you had to drive through the creek 3 times to get to the house. We always seem to have adventures when we try to go to mountain houses. This time it involved us hitting some rocks, my mom and I trying to push our van out of the mud and a tow truck to pull out my parent's car. It was a little crazy.
Needless to say we didn't go anywhere once we all got to the house. Kate and I enjoyed a walk one morning to check out the creek and beautiful mountains.
We pretty much just relaxed and hung out together. We played tons of games (what our family does best). Nothing better than playing Loaded Questions for a lot of laughs!! We ate a bunch and watched movies. A perfect relaxing getaway. We did get out one day to head into Hayesville to Fun World. We had a blast watching the kids play and also getting in on the action with the inflatable obstacle course. Kate pulled Granna through the course.
We stayed through New Years so we spent NYE up in the mountains. The kids went to bed and we played a few games. Then we re watched the Iron Bowl. I think it was about the 10th time we have watched it but it seemed like a great way to ring in the New Year.
I loved getting to just relax and bring in 2014 with the people I love the most!!
We had such a great time just getting away and being together as a family. If there is anything we have learned this year it is to treasure times like this!
