Photography

One of my goals for the past couple of years has been to learn how to properly use our camera. It has never really happened. I pretty much use the auto setting on the camera and that works. I know there is much more I can do with it. A few weeks ago I saw that a local photographer was teaching a basic photography class in our neighborhood. I decided to use my birthday and Christmas money to take the class.

Monday night was the first class. It was pretty much just the basics on using my camera but I actually learned alot. It helped me to actually be able to read the manual and understand it. I have been practicing different settings the last few days and I found a little boy playing in his room makes a great subject...
None of these photos were taken on auto and I used some different functions on them. Still a LONG way to go but I do think they are getting better. The toys gave me a great chance to practice shutter speeds. I am sure you will be seeing lots of different photos over the next few weeks as I practice and complete my homework!

Great job, Emily! That is so much fun that you are taking a class. I learned to shoot in manual mostly from Pioneer Woman- she has some great info on there if you've never seen it. Also, kevinandamanda.com has some great posts on how to use your camera too. It is lots of fun, and you're off to a great start!
